Luke 10:19-20 Behold, (see - as in "look here" - or "pay attention to this") I give unto you power to tread on serpents and scorpions (the devil and his demons), and over all the power of the enemy: and nothing shall by any means hurt you. 20Notwithstanding (this is true, but) in this rejoice not, that the spirits are subject unto you; but rather rejoice, because your names are written in heaven.
CAN ANYONE GUESS WHAT WE ARE GOING TO TALK ABOUT?

POWER AND AUTHORITY

does this mean we'll never get a cold? toothache? headace? a broken bone? or anything physical will never harm us?...

what is the devils ultimate goal? what is the only way he can REALLY harm us/
if he takes our life and we are saved, what has he done?
he cannot take our salvation, therefore he can't harm us
we have wondered when we will ever walk in the power...
according to this we are... anyone had their salvation taken away recently?
NOW WHEN WILL WE WALK IN THE FULLNESS OF HIS POWER?
POWER
Mark 16:17-18
And these signs shall follow them that believe; In my name shall they cast out devils; they shall speak with new tongues; 18They shall take up serpents; and if they drink any deadly thing, it shall not hurt them; they shall lay hands on the sick, and they shall recover.
believe in what? that signs and wonders will follow them
who are the people that would believe that? the ones who have built a relationship of trust
in God
these are signs of what? God's power
BENNY HINN
Benny Hinn can be an example to us, although he admittedly made mistakes, and got caught
up in the glory of it all, and got in the flesh... He was, and is (because He repented) an
anointed man of God.
Benny Hinn was raise very strict Catholic... they would have nothing to do with "Christians"... he went to a Katherine Kulman meeting, got saved and filled with the Holy Ghost... he went home beaming, tried to tell his family about it, but they disapproved... STERNLY... refusing to give up what he had newly discovered (or we might say "received")... he spent the next 2 years in his room, alone, with the Holy Ghost... He built a relationship with God through fellowship... he came out to eat and to go to Church and such as that... and his family would shun him... He said the presence of the Holy Ghost would be so strong in his room a lot of times he couldn't stand up, especially when their fellowship first began...
then without realizing how strong the presence was with him, one day he walked out of his room, past his mom in the hall and she fell out (because of the power of the presence of God)... and he got in the car with his friend and his friend was overwhelmed...
yes...he stayed in his room almost 2 years building a relationship with God
DO WE ALL HAVE TO SPEND 2 YEARS CLOSED UP IN A ROOM WITH GOD?
no, but we have to spend time with him fellowshipping with Him Benny Hinn didn't seek after the anointing, or the power...
He sought after a relationship with God (as his friend, his family, his God)
THE RELATIONSHIP PRODUCED THE PRESENCE, THE PRESENCE
PRODUCED THE ANOINTING, THE ANOINTING PRODUCED THE POWER
THE STRONGER THE RELATIONSHIP, THE STRONGER THE PRESENCE; ~
THEN THE STRONGER THE PRESENCE, THE STRONGER THE ANOINTING; ~
THEN THE STRONGER THE ANOINTING, THE STRONGER THE POWER!
AUTHORITY

examples of authority:

the traffic cop has the authority of the law backing him... but what POWER does he have to stop a diesel truck that decides it wants to run over him?? what authority does the truck driver have to run over that cop??
the truck driver has access to the power... the cop has the authority backing him...
the authority without the power is useless....
the power without the authority is dangerous...
the 2 working together is the order of God...
Jesus gives us the authority to access the power of God...
THE AUTHORITY IN THE NAME OF JESUS... Acts 3:1-8
Now Peter and John went up together into the temple at the hour of prayer, being the ninth hour. 2And a certain man lame from his mother's womb was carried, whom they laid daily at the gate of the temple which is called Beautiful, to ask alms of them that entered into the temple; 3Who seeing Peter and John about to go into the temple asked an alms. 4And Peter, fastening his eyes upon him with John, said, Look on us. 5And he gave heed unto them, expecting to receive something of them. 6Then Peter said, Silver and gold have I none; but such as I have give I thee: In the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth rise up and walk. 7And he took him by the right hand, and lifted him up: and immediately his feet and ancle bones received strength. 8And he leaping up stood, and walked, and entered with them into the temple, walking, and leaping, and praising God.
Peter spoke in the name of Jesus, with AUTHORITY...
he didn't ask "Lord I ask you to heal him in the name of Jesus, by your stripes he was
healed" HE DIDN'T SPEAK TO JESUS ABOUT THE PROBLEM, HE SPOKE TO THE
PROBLEM ABOUT JESUS, AND IN HIS NAME Peter understood what was happening when he excercised the authority delegated to
him through the name of Jesus, he knew he was gaining access to the power of Jesus from Acts 3:6

onoma, on'-om-ah; from a presumed derivative of the base of Greek 1097 (ginosko) (compare Greek 3685 (oninemi)); a "name" (literal or figurative) [authority, character] :- called, (+ sur-) name (-d).
in the "name" of Jesus...
in the AUTHORITY of Jesus...
Peter understood that he was an AMBASSADOR for Christ... Peter was saying....
"I don't have any money to give you, but I will give you what I have... I represent Jesus, the son of God on this earth, and by the authority He has given me, I command you to rise up and walk"..... When he spoke in Jesus name he was taking authority over the affliction...
substitute authority for name in these... Acts 4:18
And they called them, and commanded them not to speak at all nor teach in the name of Jesus. Acts 16:18
And this did she many days. But Paul, being grieved, turned and said to the spirit, I command thee in the name of Jesus Christ to come out of her. And he came out the same hour. Philip. 2:10
That at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of things in heaven, and things in earth, and things under the earth;
He has this kind of authority... Col. 3:17
And whatsoever ye do in word or deed, do all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God and the Father by him.
(if Jesus wouldn't authorize it, don't do it)
how do WE have that authority?? Jesus delegated it to those who serve Him... 2 Cor. 5:18-21
And all things are of God, who hath reconciled us to himself by Jesus Christ (made a way for us to come into His presence) , and hath given to us the ministry of reconciliation (we are now to do the ministry that Jesus was doing, bringing people to God); 19To wit (in the same manner), that God was in Christ, reconciling the world unto himself, not imputing their trespasses unto them (not taking inventory of their sins); and hath committed unto us the word of reconciliation (helping people come to God). 20Now then we are ambassadors for Christ, as though God did beseech you (call you to Him) by us: we pray you in Christ's stead (for His sake, that His sacrifice not be in vain), be ye reconciled to God (brought together with God). 21For he hath made him to be sin for us, who knew no sin; that we might be made the righteousness of God in him. we are here to represent Jesus, do the work He was doing, and He left us His name and delegated authority to us through His name, that we can have access to His power through His name... would you give a child a gun and just tell him - "go out and hunt"?
Neither will God give anyone who is not trained, who is not seeking His wisdom His
power and say "go out and use it"? IT TAKES BUILDING A RELATIONSHIP WITH HIM, AND THAT TAKES
SPENDING TIME WITH GOD, OTHER THAN TIME ASKING HIM FOR
THINGS... IT TAKES TIME GETTING TO KNOW HIM TALKING TO HIM...
AND EVEN LISTENING TO HIM! one more thing... He gave us the AUTHORITY to ACCESS the power of God so that we can overcome all things that come against us... we have no power within ourselves, but we have been delegated the authority, through Jesus name to access the power of God....
ALSO Matthew 16:19 And I will give unto thee the keys of the kingdom of heaven: and whatsoever thou shalt bind on earth shall be bound in heaven: and whatsoever thou shalt loose on earth shall be loosed in heaven. what do keys represent in God's word many, many times, if not all...??
AUTHORITY...
Jesus says "I give you authority to access the power of God to bind and to loose"...
WE SHOULD PLUG INTO THE POWER SOURCE AND ACCESS THE POWER...

first we will talk about yoke as it is translated in Hebrew...
mowtah, Hebrew 4133, Strong’s
mowtah, mo-taw'; feminine of Hebrew 4132 (mowt); a pole; by implication an ox-bow; hence a yoke (either literal or figurative) :- bands, heavy, staves, yoke. Jeremiah 27:1-11 (The neighbouring nations to be subdued) 1 In the beginning of the reign of Jehoiakim the son of Josiah king of Judah came this word unto Jeremiah from the Lord, saying, 2Thus saith the Lord to me; Make thee bonds and yokes, and put them upon thy neck, 3And send them to the king of Edom, and to the king of Moab, and to the king of the Ammonites, and to the king of Tyrus, and to the king of Zidon, by the hand of the messengers which come to Jerusalem unto Zedekiah king of Judah; 4And command them to say unto their masters, Thus saith the Lord of hosts, the God of Israel; Thus shall ye say unto your masters; 5I have made the earth, the man and the beast that are upon the ground, by my great power and by my outstretched arm, and have given it unto whom it seemed meet unto me. 6And now have I given all these lands into the hand of Nebuchadnezzar the king of Babylon, my servant; and the beasts of the field have I given him also to serve him. 7And all nations shall serve him, and his son, and his son's son, until the very time of his land come: and then many nations and great kings shall serve themselves of him. 8And it shall come to pass, that the nation and kingdom which will not serve the same Nebuchadnezzar the king of Babylon, and that will not put their neck under the yoke of the king of Babylon, that nation will I punish, saith the Lord, with the sword, and with the famine, and with the pestilence, until I have consumed them by his hand. 9Therefore hearken not ye to your prophets, nor to your diviners, nor to your dreamers, nor to your enchanters, nor to your sorcerers, which speak unto you, saying, Ye shall not serve the king of Babylon: 10For they prophesy a lie unto you, to remove you far from your land; and that I should drive you out, and ye should perish. 11But the nations that bring their neck under the yoke of the king of Babylon, and serve him, those will I let remain still in their own land, saith the Lord; and they shall till it, and dwell therein. Matthew Henry's commentary...Jeremiah 28:10-17
Jeremiah is to prepare a sign that all the neighbouring countries would be made subject to the king of Babylon. God asserts his right to dispose of kingdoms as he pleases. Whatever any have of the good things of this world, it is what God sees fit to give; we should therefore be content. The things of this world are not the best things, for the Lord often gives the largest share to bad men. Dominion is not founded in grace. Those who will not serve the God who made them, shall justly be made to serve their enemies that seek to ruin them. Jeremiah urges them to prevent their destruction, by submission. A meek spirit, by quiet submission to the hardest turns of providence, makes the best of what is bad. Many persons may escape destroying providences, by submitting to humbling providences. It is better to take up a light cross in our way, than to pull a heavier on our own heads. The poor in spirit, the meek and humble, enjoy comfort, and avoid many miseries to which the high-spirited are exposed. It must, in all cases, be our interest to obey God’s will. Jeremiah 28:10-17
10 And HanThen Hananiah the prophet took the yoke from off the prophet Jeremiah's neck, and brake it. 11aniah spake in the presence of all the people, saying, Thus saith the Lord; Even so will I break the yoke of Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon from the neck of all nations within the space of two full years. And the prophet Jeremiah went his way. 12Then the word of the Lord came unto Jeremiah the prophet, after that Hananiah the prophet had broken the yoke from off the neck of the prophet Jeremiah, saying, 13Go and tell Hananiah, saying, Thus saith the Lord; Thou hast broken the yokes of wood; but thou shalt make for them yokes of iron. 14For thus saith the Lord of hosts, the God of Israel; I have put a yoke of iron upon the neck of all these nations, that they may serve Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon; and they shall serve him: and I have given him the beasts of the field also. 15Then said the prophet Jeremiah unto Hananiah the prophet, Hear now, Hananiah; The Lord hath not sent thee; but thou makest this people to trust in a lie. 16Therefore thus saith the Lord; Behold, I will cast thee from off the face of the earth: this year thou shalt die, because thou hast taught rebellion against the Lord. 17So Hananiah the prophet died the same year in the seventh month. these are literal yokes

Jeremiah 28:10-17 (The false prophet warned of his approaching death. (10-17) Hananiah is sentenced to die, and Jeremiah, when he has received direction from God, boldly tells him so; but not before he received that commission. Those have much to answer for, who tell sinners that they shall have peace, though they harden their hearts in contempt of God’s word. The servant of God must be gentle to all men. He must give up even his right, and leave the Lord to plead his cause. Every attempt of ungodly men to make vain the purposes of God, will add to their miseries.
so we see in all of this the yoke of rebellion is heavy and hard to bear... and again we see God as a just God... not allow deciet to go unpunished, we may not realize the punishment as onlookers... but God is always just... and that God is a sovereign God, able to do whatever He sees fit to do... His judgement is righteous...
we don't want the kind of yokes spoken of here... representing a bondage to our enemies... but on the other hand... our ultimate enemie, satan, is bound... by our faith in God, satan is bound by a yoke that is heavy and impossible to bear... now another translation of yoke... yoke translated here still in Hebrew is... tsemed, Hebrew 6776, Strong’s
tsemed, tseh'-med; a yoke or team (i.e. pair); hence an acre (i.e. day's task for a yoke of cattle to plough) :- acre, couple, × together, two [asses], yoke (of oxen). 1 Samuel 11:7
And he took a yoke of oxen, and hewed them in pieces, and sent them throughout all the coasts of Israel by the hands of messengers, saying, Whosoever cometh not forth after Saul and after Samuel, so shall it be done unto his oxen. And the fear of the Lord fell on the people, and they came out with one consent. this is a team that is yoked together...
ox were literally yoked together, forcing them to work together...
if one lags behind... what happens?
it slows the pace, causes the one who is keeping the faster pace to work harder to pull the other along, so the work is slower to get done, and the team can't work as long without tiring...
if they try to go in different directions, what happens??
the same as lagging behind... it just don't get much accomplised...
but if they work together, what happens?
the work goes much smoother, the workload is shared, causing the team to work much faster, and not tire near so quickly... much work gets done, much more efficiently...
then we will talk about another translation of yoke... yoke in these scriptures is translated from the Hebrew as... `ol, Hebrew 5923, Strong’s
`ol, ole; or owl, ole; from Hebrew 5953 (`alal); a yoke (as imposed on the neck), literal or figurative :- yoke. Lament. 1:14
The yoke of my transgressions is bound by his hand: they are wreathed, and come up upon my neck: he hath made my strength to fall, the Lord hath delivered me into their hands, from whom I am not able to rise up. the bondage of sin... it is heavy, and it keeps us down... the end of this bondage is death, eternal death... Matthew 11:29-30 Take my yoke upon you, and learn of me; for I am meek and lowly in heart: and ye shall find rest unto your souls. 30For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light. Jesus wants us to be yoked with Him... why?
He says it clearly, to learn of Him...
this could be a yoke as in Jeremiah, one person yoked in bondage... in that we willfully place ourselves in bondage to Jesus, and that bondage is not burdensome... and we do it because we love and trust Him...
but I prefer to think of it as the yoked together kind of yoke...
why? because He says it is to learn of Him... and...
what better way to learn about someone than to be yoked to them... be at their side constantly??
and what does He tell us about His yoke??
it is easy, and not a heavy burden...
we can spend time with Him... constantly... learn about Him... and not find it burdensome to us... it is not a chore, not something to dread... not hard for us to do... the next scripture has a deviation of yoke... translated... yokefellow translated here... suzugos, Greek 4805, Strong’s
suzugos, sood'-zoo-gos; from Greek 4801 (suzeugnumi); co-yoked, i.e. (figurative) as noun, a colleague; probably rather as properly name; Syzygus, a Christian :- yokefellow. and fellowlabourers translated here... sunergos, Greek 4904, Strong’s
sunergos, soon-er-gos'; from a presumed compound of Greek 4862 (sun) and the base of Greek 2041 (ergon); a co-laborer, i.e. coadjutor :- companion in labour, (fellow-) helper (-labourer, -worker), labourer together with, workfellow. Philip. 4:3
And I intreat thee also, true yokefellow, help those women which laboured with me in the gospel, with Clement also, and with other my fellowlabourers, whose names are in the book of life. with fellowlabourers, we are yoked together to accomplish a shared goal... there must be unity.... as we talked about before... pulling against each other, we accomplish nothing... but together, we can get any job done that the Lord has lead us to do...
NOW I ask... HOW DOES OUR YOKE FIT US... we are all yoked to one thing or another... either to sin... which is ultimately death... or to Jesus, whose burden is light, and whose yoke is easy... and we are yoked to a fellowlabourer, in one labor or another...
which of these yokes do we carry??
are we pulling against Jesus?? or walking in harmony with Him, learning of Him??
are we working in unity with fellowlabourers to do a work for God, or are we pulling against the will of God and slowing down the work??
let us each consider where we are in our yoke today... Love,

This was started when I was doing a study on another forum about Ephesus......and it fits here....

I Timothy 2 talks about women's roles in the church...This is going along with all the false doctrine going on at Ephesus...atcually, it is still rampant in today's churches...

Women have been almost captive and restrained in many ways from public ministry. The reason that I bring this up is that I am a woman in the ministry. I have worked in homeless shelters for more years than I care to know...I have been situated in places that no 'fancy, reverand minister' would ever consider....I have allowed myself at times to be in great danger.....I have been shot at, robbed...had ever human emotion...good or bad....I had had my own children at places that 'no good mother' would ever take her children to....but, God is faithful..He put angels in charge of us.

This is not about Lynn...!

This is about what we as women in the ministry have gone through....

This, hopefully, will explain how I can hold my ordination papers with both honor and humbleness. One of the scriptures in which I am referring to here is :

I Timothy 2:11-15 "Let a woman learn in silence in full submission. I permit no woman to teach or have authority over a man. She is to keep silent. For Adam was formed first, then Eve. And Adam was not deceived, but the woman was deceived and became a transgressor. yet, she will be saved through childbearing, provided they continue in faith and love and holiness with modesty."

The Christian Church has built doctrine around this verse....but, have they really checked into its true translation? There are several reasons for this doctrine...the most famous one, of course, is the seating arrangements of the New Testament Church. The men were on one side, the wives on another....with a partition dividing them......

another is simply this:

The Greek wording here has not been translated correctly. A book published by Baker Book House, Grand Rapids, MI. called " Suffer Not A Woman" and authored by Richard and Catherine Clark Kroeger....says that the Greek verb, authentein is the problem. I, personally believe Paul was saying....

"I am not allowing...a woman to teach or to proclaim herself the originator of man..."

Research shows that the meaning of authentein has changed to a dramatic degree over a period of about 1100 years. At the first of the 6th century, we find it used as classical literature. ....meaning to 'initiate or be responsible for a murder'.....200 or 300AD, this word meant to 'claim ownership of property' either rightfully or wrongfully through fraud. It could also mean to 'usurp power'.....However, during the time of the New Testament, the most common meaning of authentein was 'to be', or claim to be the author or the originator of something. Even the cultural text was missed when the translators wrote the book of Timothy.

Now, before going on, I must tell you this...yes, I am a lady chaplain....I am not teaching on my own authority....first, I have Jesus to teach me. Leroy Jones of Saving Christian Fellowship in Georgetown, Texas. Both are non-demoninational fellowships of believers.

Back to the story: I have given a great deal of study of Ephesus and pagenism and false cults and so forth...Now, when Timothy was written, perversion of scripture had infiltrated the church. timothy was in Ephesus, the world center of paganism and governed spiritually by the female deity Artemis, whom the Romans called Diana. The cult of Artemis taught the superiority of the female and advocated female domination of the male. It was this teaching that this goddess was able to bring forth offspring without male involvement. Sexual perversion, fertility rites, endless myths, and elaborate genealogies traced through female lines rather than male lines...Magic..and all kinds and manners of demonic activity flourished. Also, there were Jewish gnostics who represented the equivalent of our New Age Movement. Gnostic is a Greek word and means knowledge. Gnostics acknowledge spirit guides and taught the teachings of Artemis along with the teachings of the Old Testament story of Adam and Eve. In this story, Eve was the "Illuminator' of mankind because she was the first to receive true knowledge from the serpant....whom Gnostics saw as the 'savior' and the revealer of truth. They also believed that Eve taught this new revelation to Adam...and because she was the mother of all, was the progenitor of the human race.....

meaning......

they believed that Adam was her son and NOT her husband. This believe feflected that gnostic doctrine of women bearing children without male involvement. Gnostics also taught that the Hebrew God was a lesser deity and had to change his Name from Yahwey to laidaboath. They believed that physical matter was evil and the world of the spirit was good....they also maintained that God had made a serious mistake in creating the material universe. This is when Paul encouraged Timothy to confront the problems of false doctrines. Paul told him to forbid certain people from teaching their beliefs in the church and to admonish others to turn away from this myth and endless genealogies. Paul told Timothy to oppose those who speak falsely of the Living God.....to warn people about the doctrines of demons, avoid stupid controversies, and to warn people to have nothing to do with the old, corrupted story of Adam and Eve.

Now.....what did Paul really say? I believe he was saying that was was said must be in accordance with the scripture. Going on, in this scripture, the word silence is used. It is stemmed from "Hesuchia' which also means harmony, peace, conformity and/or agreement. He also states that Adam was formed first, then Eve. This statement directly contradicts the notion that Eve was the 'illuminator' amd carrier of any new revelation.

Paul couldn't have many problems with women in ministry because he talked about them often. For example....Paul encouraged Timothy to trust the faith he had received from his mother and grandmother. He worked with a husband-wife team in the tent-making business. He traveled with them, planting and pastoring house churches. They trained Apollos to be more accurate in the Word of God. Paul usually mentions Pricilla, the woman, before her husband, Aquila. In the letter to the Romans, he commends a woman leader, Phoebe, to the Church at Rome. He says he is sending her as a minister of the gospel. The greek word for minister here is diakonos, a deacon. It implies that Pheobe had the same status in the early Church as Stephen, the martyr and Phillip the evangelist.. The word prostatis, which also means leader is used of Pheobe. It means oversear, or someone with stature, responsibility and authority. Paul's relatives, Andronicus, a man and Junia, a woman, were highly prominent among the apoltles. Paul broke the rabinic tradition when he insisted that women should learn the Word of God just like men in humility of heart and full of submission to the truth of Jesus Christ. He wanted to equip us to teach the truth of the Scripture. Paul told Timothy which women to add to the church payroll. He told Timothy to employ those who can serve the church in good character and with a proven tract record.

FINALLY.....

Paul said, "As many of you as were baptized into Christ have clothed yourself with Christ. There is no longer Jew or Greek, there is no longer slave or free, there is no longer male or female...for all of you are one in Christ Jesus." Galations 3:27-28

In these last days, God is setting the stage for a final harvest. Paul told Timothy to look for women who love Jesus, and have washed the feet of the saints...We are called to release these individuals into the freedom that God has given us. We are to be submissive to His will in our lives. We are called to preach holiness, righeousness, concentration....salvation.....we are called...whether men or women.....to preach Jesus......yes, as a woman, I believe that as God's handmaiden, I can deliver the Word...only if I stay in His Word and in His Complete Will...The hour is late....let us release His anointing and His Love into a sin=filled world and quit worrying about whether we are a guy or a gal......

2 Kings 2:2
And Elijah said unto Elisha, Tarry here, I pray thee; for the Lord hath sent me to Bethel. And Elisha said unto him, As the Lord liveth, and as thy soul liveth, I will not leave thee. So they went down to Bethel.

If you don't know this story, you should read it, because it is very good...

Elisha wanted a double portion of Elijah's anointing... everyone knows that Elijah was a great prophet of God...

Elisha was committed to this cause... he WANTED that double portion and he went after it...

2 Kings 2:9
And it came to pass, when they were gone over, that Elijah said unto Elisha, Ask what I shall do for thee, before I be taken away from thee. And Elisha said, I pray thee, let a double portion of thy spirit be upon me.

he was not about to be detered at all...

it happened more than once...

2 Kings 2:4
And Elijah said unto him, Elisha, tarry here, I pray thee; for the Lord hath sent me to Jericho. And he said, As the Lord liveth, and as thy soul liveth, I will not leave thee. So they came to Jericho.

2 Kings 2:6
And Elijah said unto him, Tarry, I pray thee, here; for the Lord hath sent me to Jordan. And he said, As the Lord liveth, and as thy soul liveth, I will not leave thee. And they two went on.

Elijah would say to Elisha not twice, but three times... "you just stay here and wait for me... I'll be back later"

now these trips that Elijah was taking was not just down the drive way... and they didn't jump into their Lincoln Continental and ride in comfort to get there... it was a good walk in the heat, it was had nothing to do with comfort...

ELISHA WAS COMMITTED...

Elisha answered three times...

"UH UH... no way man... you ain't gettin' outa my sight... I don't wanna miss it... I'm with you wherever you go... get used to it man, I stick to you like glue"

(well, those are my words, not Elisha's, but wthe message is the same, that was essentially what he was saying)

Verse 16, does something strike you as odd here?

the king knew the truth... did he have a choice?

verse 18 again we see he KNEW the truth, but CHOSE to rebel even to the end of his

own death

where is God's throne?

THIS WAS A MEETING IN HEAVEN

verse 21 a lying spirit was at that meeting, was that odd?

so we see evil spirits in Heaven meeting with God

verse 22 God gave His permission to decieve Ahab... why?

(because Ahab refused to hear God's prophets and angered God)Ahab's death had been prophesied because of Ahab's rebellious spirit, and
that same rebellious spirit would cause the fulfilling of the prophesyverse 23 the prophet of God was telling Ahab how he was being decieved to his own

death, but rebellion would not let him listen.

did Ahab have a choice here? I believe he did

verse 24 false prophet hit him and asked in todays language

"Who do you think you are to defy me? I am the prophet who hears from God!"

verses 25 - 28 the put Micaiah in prison, and he tells them in our words

"when all is done, we will know who the true prophet is"

verse 34 In battle the King (Ahab) was wounded so badly that it would be fatal

verse 35 the battle got worse and they propped him up in the chariot

verse 37 the King died

verse 38 PROPHESY FULFILLEDAlso the word says the rebellion is as the sin of witchcraft... clearly... rebellion... AND witchcraft are both sins...

1 Kings 17:1-7
And Elijah the Tishbite, who was of the inhabitants of Gilead, said unto Ahab, As the Lord God of Israel liveth, before whom I stand, there shall not be dew nor rain these years, but according to my word. 2And the word of the Lord came unto him, saying, 3Get thee hence, and turn thee eastward, and hide thyself by the brook Cherith, that is before Jordan. 4And it shall be, that thou shalt drink of the brook; and I have commanded the ravens to feed thee there. 5So he went and did according unto the word of the Lord: for he went and dwelt by the brook Cherith, that is before Jordan. 6And the ravens brought him bread and flesh in the morning, and bread and flesh in the evening; and he drank of the brook. 7And it came to pass after a while, that the brook dried up, because there had been no rain in the land.
in verse 1 he prophesied doom, and the King and Queen must have been really mad, and immediately THE WORD OF THE LORD CAME... what had he done until he heard from God? try to figure out what to do? I don't think so...
VERSE 7 finds Elijah doing what? why was he still there do you suppose?
he was just waiting for the word of the Lord to come so he'd know what to do, and when to do it...
VERSE 8 THE WORD OF THE LORD CAME (the widow fed him) 1 Kings 18:1
And it came to pass after many days, that the word of the Lord came to Elijah in the third year, saying, Go, shew thyself unto Ahab; and I will send rain upon the earth.
I Kings 18:1 THE WORD OF THE LORD CAME where had Elijah been until then?
still at the widows house...
what was he waiting for?
THE WORD OF THE LORD (of coarse)
(ELIJAH DID NOT MAKE A MOVE UNTIL HE HEARD FROM GOD)
it had been 3 years since the prophesy...
and again... WHAT HAD ELIJAH BEEN DOING?
waiting for the word from the Lord.

The Fruit of the Spirit

in I Corinth we find there are 9 gifts (plural) of the spirit...

now in Galatians 5:22-23 we find 9 ingredients of the fruit (singular) of the spirit...

these are ingredients that make up one fruit... not 9 fruits...

they are... love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith, meekness, temperance

count them 9... all make one fruit...

if we have 8 ingredients, lacking only one... do we still have the fruit of the spirit??

let me just throw something out at you, and see what you think...

if we are making a cake and we leave out the eggs, just one ingredient... do we still have a cake?

of coarse we do... it is just lacking... not as good as it should be...

now if we leave out the flour all we have is a mess... right?

if we have all the ingredients of the fruit, EXCEPT for instance longsuffering... do we still have the fruit??

tell us what you think...

this is what I think... we would still have the fruit, but it would be lacking... everyone would see the product of the other ingredients... we would be bearing fruit, but it would be lacking...

NOW... I believe if we leave out, say for instance... FAITH... we would just have a mess... how can we do any of the other things without faith?? we can't even please God without faith, can we?? isn't that what the word say??

temperance is another MUST HAVE... because if we are not trying to control ourselves, we are a mess already...

the reason I used longsuffering for instance, in that we can be lacking in that and still be productive is because it is not as evident as some of the other things... because how often do you hear anyone say "boy, he's not very longsuffering"... or "wow, he sure didn't put up with that long, only 6 months"... you see is viewed different by different people, what some would see as a long time, to another may not be very long at all...

but how often do you hear "that guy (or girl) is quick tempered ain't they!" I hear that a lot...

THE WHOLE ARMOR OF GOD

Eph 6:10-18

10 Finally, my brethren, be strong in the Lord, and in the power of his might.

11 Put on the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil.

12 For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places.

13 Wherefore take unto you the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand.

14 Stand therefore, having your loins girt about with truth, and having on the breastplate of righteousness;

15 And your feet shod with the preparation of the gospel of peace;

16 Above all, taking the shield of faith, wherewith ye shall be able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked.

17 And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God:

18 Praying always with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit, and watching thereunto with all perseverance and supplication for all saints;

Paul says a lot about practical living here... everyday, we are at war, and we need to realize it... he is telling us the practical way to survive this war...

verse 10...

10 Finally, my brethren, be strong in the Lord, and in the power of his might.

the word strong translated from Greek word

endunamoo (in-dun-amoo)

which means increasing in strength

we should be always increasing in strength... in His strength... the joy of the Lord... and in the power of His might...

without Jesus we have no joy, no strength...

John 15:5-12

5 I am the vine, ye are the branches: He that abideth in me, and I in him, the same bringeth forth much fruit: for without me ye can do nothing.

6 If a man abide not in me, he is cast forth as a branch, and is withered; and men gather them, and cast them into the fire, and they are burned.

7 If ye abide in me, and my words abide in you, ye shall ask what ye will, and it shall be done unto you.

8 Herein is my Father glorified, that ye bear much fruit; so shall ye be my disciples.

9 As the Father hath loved me, so have I loved you: continue ye in my love.

the joy of the Lord is our strength, He wants our joy to be full... for us to be STRONG in the Lord...

Phil 4:13

13I can do all things through Christ which strengtheneth me.

Luke 11:21-23

21 When a strong man armed keepeth his palace, his goods are in peace:

22 But when a stronger than he shall come upon him, and overcome him, he taketh from him all his armour wherein he trusted, and divideth his spoils.

23 He that is not with me is against me: and he that gathereth not with me scattereth.

we must be strong (increasing in strength) in the might of the Lord, so the enemy can't strip away our armor, and divide our goods...

verses 11-12

11 Put on the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil.

notice verse 11...

he tells us to PUT ON the whole armor of God... it won't just fall on us, we HAVE to put it on...

when David fought Goliath, he refused to wear Saul's armor... why?

it didn't fit... AND he hadn't proved it...

he chose to stick with what he HAD proven... what was that??

the power of God's might...

we can't wear someone elses armor either... we have to put on our own armor...

verse 12..

we wrestle against rebellious spirits, not the person who is being controlled by them...

it is easy to get mad at the person, and argue, but that only makes things worse, because it is not the person that we should wage war against, it is the spirit of rebellion

verses 13 and 14

13 Wherefore take unto you the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand.

14 Stand therefore, having your loins girt about with truth, and having on the breastplate of righteousness;

we MUST have put on the WHOLE armor of God.... not just part of it, or we are vulnerable...

"HAVING DONE ALL TO STAND"

is a military term of that day... meaning...

after you have "conquered all" (withstood the evil of the day)

it doesn't mean after you are exhausted, just stand... and keep standing...

we are MORE than conquerors... Paul, like Jesus doesn't expects us to be MORE than conquerors...

remember we are INCREASING in the strength of the Lord, and in His might... BEFORE the enemy attacks...

after we have conquered the evil of this day... (we have stood, and with stood the evil of this day)

(then verse 14 starts with)

STAND - meaning... stand... ready to do battle...

don't sit down and get comfortable, and let your guard down....

STAND with the whole armor of God on... ready for the next attack...

THE LAST PART OF VERSE 14... "

having your loins girt about with truth, and having on the breastplate of righteousness;"

the armor, and dress of this day, was common, and people understood EXACTLY what Paul was telling them...

THEY WORE A SKIRTED SUIT... and they put what they called a girdle around their loins to hold the skirt in place,

to give them more freedom for movement...

IT ALSO held the bottom of the breastplate in place... held it steady in place... so it wouldn't swing from side to side, leaving them vulnerable...

LOINS GIRT ABOUT WITH TRUTH...

our integrity holds the Breastplate of righteousness in place... and gives us freedom of movement in battle, with nothing to hide, we have freedom to fight against the devil and his wickedness...

we can also see that the truth is the word of God... which holds our righteousness in place, and gives us freedom to fight, if we are obedient to the word...

BREASTPLATE OF RIGHTEOUSNESS...

the breastplate of righteousness, is not made of our righteousness... but the righteousness of God... of Christ...

1 Cor 1:30

30 But of him are ye in Christ Jesus, who of God is made unto us wisdom, and righteousness, and sanctification, and redemption:

our righteousness is of God...

we see in Matt 6:33 we are not to seek our own righteousness, but HIS...

Matt 6:33

33 But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you.

how do we recieve this righteousness??

by faith in God...

Rom 4:9

9 Cometh this blessedness then upon the circumcision only, or upon the uncircumcision also? for we say that faith was reckoned to Abraham for righteousness.

13 For the promise, that he should be the heir of the world, was not to Abraham, or to his seed, through the law, but through the righteousness of faith.

our righteousness is through faith in God... that is our breastplate of righteousness... we believe in God... confess Jesus as Lord... and LIVE for Him, according to His word, BECAUSE we BELIEVE in Him, and His word...

and our integrity, (honesty, and uprightness, respectability) is our girdle that holds that breatplate in place...

WHAT DOES THE BREASTPLATE PROTECT

the heart, the lungs, the bowels...

THE HEART is the SEAT OF affections... a symbol of our emotions... the place where love originates...

the breastplate of righteousness will protect our ability to love...LUNGS... where we take in air... the spirit is like a breath of life in us... in fact in the Greek and Hebrew language the word translated "spirit" means wind, or breath...

the breastplate protects our spirit, and make a safe place for the spirit of God to dwell..BOWELS...

1 John 3:17

17But whoso hath this world's good, and seeth his brother have need, and shutteth up his bowels of compassion from him, how dwelleth the love of God in him?

the breastplate of righteousness protects...

our abilitly to love (the heart) and have compassion (the bowels) and makes a safe place for the spirit to dwell (the lungs)

VERSE 15

15 And your feet shod with the preparation of the gospel of peace;

this is a PREPARATION... done BEFORE HAND... PREPARED...

don't wait until fear, confusion, and unrest comes... prepare ahead of time... with the WORD... the GOSPEL OF PEACE...

the GOOD NEWS of JESUS CHRIST...

Isa 32:17-18

17And the work of righteousness shall be peace; and the effect of righteousness quietness and assurance for ever.

18And my people shall dwell in a peaceable habitation, and in sure dwellings, and in quiet resting places;

the armor all works together... RIGHTEOUSNESS brings peace....

6For to be carnally minded is death; but to be spiritually minded is life and peace.

why FEET shod with peace??

we go in peace, everywhere we go...

VERSE 16

16 Above all, taking the shield of faith, wherewith ye shall be able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked.

SHIELD OF FAITH

the shield of faith is EXTRA protection, to protect even our armor... and to give us that extra protection, should an area become a little vulnerable,

maybe because we have stumble and fell because of temptation... the shield of faith protects while we get our armor back in place...

and it protects our breastplate of righteousness, and our girdle of integrity...

VERSE 17

17 And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God:

HELMET OF SALVATION

the helmet protects the head... the mind... the thoughts... from past sins... from present sins... and from future sins...

Rom 12:2

2And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God.

"I have hope"... it is a concrete substance... this is faith...... "I hope..." is I wish it would be this way... (I wish I was healed... I wish I could make it to Heaven"... etc)

Abel gave his best - his first, Cain didn't

Abel gave the BLOOD sacrifice that is necessary for atonement... Cain's offering offered no blood sacrifice... this could not please God... blood shed was required for atonement...

it takes faith to give our best - our first - even tithes

especially if we were not taught from our youth

BUT REMEMBER... NO ONE CAN OUTGIVE GOD...

and FAITH is the key to God's promises... and fear is the key to being defeated!! Faith stops fear... and fear stops faith...

which do you want FEAR??? OR FAITH??????

I have a lot of YOUNG freinds on myspace, that is the purpose for myspace, to reach them where they are... if you click on their myspaces you will find some very offensive things on some of them... Lynn and I have worked together online for Hmmmm, well, we may not say how many years... oooohhhh... yes we will, about 10 years, (I am writing this in 2008) we have worked in several Christian communities together, we have laughed together a LOT,we get silly sometimes, God does have a sense of humor, He made me to prove it... LOL...

and He's still working on me...

we have cried together numerous times, we have prayed together, stood together through thick and thin, we have seen the enemy come into our communities under numerous disguises to try to destroy what God has built... but no matter what the ol' sneak has tried, God is and always has been and even better, He always will be a long ways ahead of the enemy...

We are together, Lynn and I because our hearts are united together with God... we live miles apart, have not yet met face to face, unfortunately because we would both love it... but we know each other because the same Jesus lives within us both... we have the same goals... to glorify God and see His Kingdom grow...

We are SISTERS!!

Lynn is the first member to join here, and she is already an administrater here... I trust her completely... she is trustworthy because the one she serves with all her heart holds her accountable... just as He does me...

The Church where I attend is my place of service and worship, and so are the communities that Lynn and I Minister through together...

I LOVE my Church family... and they ARE my family... and I will continue to introduce you more and more to the Church too... it is Pearcy Full Gospel Lighthouse...
